Health Care

McCall assists a diverse group of health care entities including hospital districts, hospital authorities, non-profit 501(c)(3) hospitals and organizations and for-profit corporations and partnerships in financing facilities and equipment used in the areas of healthcare, hospital and senior living (senior care) facilities in Texas and other states. Attorneys in the firm work extensively with health care providers, financial analysts and investment banking firms in structuring financings to support the issuance of revenue bonds.

Federal legislation and limitations to the issuance of public securities and nonprofit organizations impose significant requirements on entities such as hospital districts and nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations and their ability to borrow in the tax-exempt market. The experience that attorneys in the firm possess in structuring health care financings provides our clients with the maximum flexibility with respect to financial covenants while structuring the most economically efficient financing possible in the public securities market.

The firm has served as bond counsel and underwriters’ counsel on financings for large healthcare systems such as Methodist Hospitals of Dallas, Children’s Medical Center of Dallas and the former Baylor Health Care System in Dallas and Houston Methodist Hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital and the former All Saints Episcopal Health System in Houston, as well as financings for Cleveland Clinic Health System in Cleveland, Ohio.  The firm has also been involved in financings for community hospital systems in cities such as Beaumont, Kerrville, Longview, Mission, Tyler and Wichita Falls.

McCall has also served as bond counsel for projects at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, and as underwriters’ counsel for projects for Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

Additionally, the firm is very active in transactions in the senior living area. McCall has served as bond counsel and underwriters’ counsel in numerous financing for the continuing care retirement communities, residential retirement facilities, skilled nursing facilities and Alzheimer care facilities.
